Snail Mail from the U.S.Postal Service

Today in my home mail box I got a bag from the U.S.P.S.  If walking the streets in this hood isn’t bad enough. Now these postal workers are ask to leave a bag to donate food from people in this neighborhood that already are in need of help themselves.

This is a great way to help feed families but, do the postal workers need to do this?  Don’t they have a hard enough time walking through these neighborhoods. With dogs barking at them, walking over people’s garden hoses, weaving in & out of broken down cars in drive-ways, along with the heat or rain of this job, give a postal worker a break.  Can you see that I was once a seasonal postal worker.

The best part in small print tells us to…please do not include items that have expired or are in glass containers. No old food that can break.

Now what would be good to put in this bag?

  1. I agree. Give the mail delivery workers a break. Most churches have a box where members can bring food items and leave them in one place, where they can be delivered to the food pantry. They should be enough from individuals. Still the bulk should come from corporations and food stores.
